IT'S A GIRL!!!

Well, everything went well Friday, and the tech said she was pretty sure our 'he' is a 'she'. She found no evidence of boy parts (which doesn't always mean anything), but saw the tell-tale '3 white lines' which is a good indication it's a girl. We knew we'd probably end up having a girl, given the family history, but I was so sure it was a boy. Oh well, at least we've got lots of experience with girls, and there will certainly be an abundance of girl stuff to go around. So we can start calling 'the bun' by her real name, Theresa Ann, or as we like to call her, Tessa. She is named after both our deceased grandmothers. She's still very active, and was very much so during the ultrasound. The funniest part of it was my having to drink the water prior. I drank my required 16oz 1 hr before the appt. Of course I had to pee really bad when I got in there. So she starts the ultrasound and says "Oh my gosh, that's the biggest bladder I've ever seen! You need to go empty it out - all of it!" "All of it?" I asked, very confused as to why they would make me go through all the pain for nothing. Needless to say it was very nice to relieve myself, cause as soon as I laid down it got worse, not better. My bladder was taking up half the screen and she couldn't get a good enough view of the baby. We got to see all her bones, her heart (including the chambers and valves), her brain, the placenta, umbillica cord, and everything. Very cool. She measured 19 wks, 3 days, and I was 18 wks, 6 days, so she's right on for size. Based on those measurements she should be about 10 oz as well. I go to the doctor this Wednesday, so if there was anything concerning they found during the ultrasound, we'll know then, but hopefully it'll be another smooth appt.
On another note, I did my measurements again yesterday, and in 5 weeks I've gained another inch overall and about 2 lbs, so that should make the doctor happy.
I also went looking at more baby stuff at Target and Wal-Mart this weekend. For those of you who are curious, I think we'll be registering at Target, Wal-Mart, and Babies-R-Us. I haven't put anything on the registries, but I imagine within the next month or so we'll have some stuff on there. I bought wooden letters that spell 'Tessa' and painted them pink to put on her wall - very cute! And it sounds like my friend Ang is going to be giving me a shower, and I think we'll try and have it mid August, but that's still a ways off.

Congrats! Tessa is a very cute name, I like it a lot. Girls rock :)
Yea! That's awesome! Girl's do rock :) And I have my girly fabrics all ready to start quilting!
Look at it this way. You were such a beautiful baby (not to mention a beautiful young woman) it is a good thing that your genes will be passed on. You just have to remember to teach her the "puppy eyes". A boy would have been nice but we do know how to do girls, that's for sure.
I am thrilled and like I said before, a healthy baby and healthy mommy is all we really want. It was fun guessing though.
Love to everyone,
Mom
YAY!! I can't wait to go baby shopping for TESSA :) Love the name and love you guys!!
She's so cute, I can't stop smiling! I guess a girl will be ok after all. I liked the name Theresa
better but I guess Tessa is ok.
Love,
Gabrielle
Dolly was just waiting for a girlfriend to hang out with again. Ya'll know I've got all my girly fabric out and am sewing away. YIPPEE!! Ain't she sweet. Ultrasound pics were awesome. You could see her little face and hands really well. Girls do rock.
I can't wait to meet her, I am so overjoyed I could throw up! Girls rule, boys drool!
I disagree with the last poster - I think a little boy would be a wonderful addition to thier family.
I am so excited! Life is good :) Love, Tina
I love the name and the thought behind it. Don't go to crazy with girl stuff, just in case it is a boy. You never know.......
Take care, Debbie S.
How would have thought that we would be able to have girls. :) I think that she is sucking her thumb just like her me. Tessa is so cute and we can not wait to meet her. I am sure Isabelle will have stories to tell her about when you and chuck watched her. Congrats!
We love all three of you.
Aunt Brittaney, Uncle Jason, and Isabelle
I know that you are proud of the ultra-sound. It is so cute. It has to be a girl. Love you all.
