Sorry, I can't get the blog to hyperlink the address for this week's updates, so you'll have to copy and paste the address into your browser. Notice we finally have a normal food comparison - thank goodness!
It appears we have survived the aftermath of Ike. I hope that our friends and family in the Gulf are doing ok (all things considered). We had almost 6" of rain, and that was really the worst of it, so we are pretty fortunate.
The birthing class went pretty well, I think. I went into it not expecting much, so I was glad that it did better than I was expecting. I don't know that I learned anything, but I think Chuck was able to take some things away from it, which was really my main objective for going in the first place. Although the nurse that was teaching the class did ask me on my way out if there was any concern for me delivering vaginally because apparently she felt my pelvis might be 'inadequate'. I must say, I would have never guessed in a million years that my hips would not be adequate for birth. I've always felt that my hips were a little wide, but I always chalked it up to God giving me birthing hips. I told her no, and she said, oh, I'm sure you'll be fine. Thanks for the vote of confidence, lady. I've been preparing my body for childbirth and I think I'll be just fine, plus women typically aren't given babies that they can't birth naturally.
I did give Chuck a fright early Sunday morning. I woke up at 5 or so to go to the bathroom, then went back to bed. About a half hour later, I woke with the most horrible leg cramp I've ever had, and the pain was the worst thing I've ever felt. I'm sure it didn't last that long before I was able to work it out, but I cried out in pain. Chuck didn't know what was going on, so he got up and went to the living room thinking I was having a contraction and was mentally preparing himself for getting me to the hospital. Obviously I was fine afterward, but I appreciate his concern. It is still sore today, like I've been jumping around on the toes of that leg for the whole weekend and the muscle is sore. Very weird.
I also did a bit of shopping this weekend and actually bought myself a few things! Those of you that know me know I'm not a shopper, hate to spend money, and will rarely buy myself something. I had Aubrey's (Chuck's best friend's fiance) wedding shower yesterday, and ended up getting there pretty early. It just so happened to be down the road from a children's consignment store that my friend Marcia loves and I had been to with her once. I only had a few minutes to kill, but I was able to find 3long sleeve button down dress shirts (all with pink) for $1 each! And there's nothing wrong with them, so I was excited. Even if I don't get to wear them more than a couple times, it's nice to have a few new things to wear (since I pretty much wear the same shirts every week), and I can contribute to the collection of maternity clothes. I've been fortunate enough to not really have to buy anything with what people have bought for me or let me use, so I figured $3 to help myself and hopefully a lot of others was a good buy!
I guess that's it. No funny stories - sorry. We have our birth center tour at the hospital on Tues, which I'm looking forward to, then I've got another appt on Thurs, so I'll update on those sometime this week. Until then, take care everyone!

Those late pregnancy leg cramps can be awful! I remember them well. It must be the extra weight that causes them. Try stretching your leg out, putting your foot against the wall(while still laying in bed), that might help.
From the conversation I had with Chuck he learned a few things from the class but was kinda grossed out with the visuals. I'm glad you went and should be more prepared for Tessa now.
As for the nurses' comment, what a dumb a$$. As if there isn't enough to worry about.
One dollar dress shirts, I'm impressed! :)
Funny story, I can imagine brother running around all crazy collecting suitcases and stuff, putting you in the car and ready to have a baby, all over your leg cramps! LOL! Hoo-larious!
