I had another doctor's appt last night. As usual, everything is going well. Her heartbeat is great - 150. I'm measuring right on schedule. Her butt (as usual) was sticking out while he was doing his stuff and felt around and said he thought it was her butt, but he'd know for sure once he checked the heartbeat. Sure enough, the heartbeat was loud and clear low in my abdomen. I've thought she's been in the right position for a while now, so I wasn't concerned. Plus one of the exercises I do is supposed to help get them in position, so I'd be surprised if she wasn't. I was able to ask him my millions of questions on L&D and I was pretty pleased with everything he had to say. I feel much better after having talked to him, but he is still just 1 of 4 doctors. So even though he's on board with my 'plan' and his personal practices are more along the lines of what I want, if I get someone else, I might have a tougher time getting things to 'go my way'. But I guess it's the nurses too that I have to convince, since you really only see the doctor a few times or so (depending on your situation and how long you're there) until the delivery. Just please pray I'll get my doctor. Even if things don't go exactly as planned or there's a problem, I'd rather have him there knowing how I feel about everything. And all my crazy concerns and 'requirements' for L&D are only because I want what's best for me and Tessa. Just because something is 'routine' doesn't mean it's necessary or all that safe. Childbirth is as natural as breathing, although you wouldn't know that now a days with all the stuff they do. Doctor's are only there for if there's a problem. The woman's the one doing all the work anyway... and I'm paying them for what? :) No 'checking' was done (since I'm only 35 weeks). Next time I go in (Oct. 3) I'll have to have the strep B test done where they swab 'down there', so they'll probably do an exam while they're down there anyway. I personally don't even want to know if I'm dilated or not. I could go weeks dilated. And unless the baby is stressed or some other complication comes up, he's not going to start talking induction or C/S until I'm at least 2 weeks 'overdue', so I could still have another 7 weeks. Anyway, everything's good. He loves that I'm such a happy, 'easy' pregnant lady (minus my lengthy questions). It's got to be a relief not to have a mom that's either got tons of problems or just wants their baby out. I like Tessa right where she is. I know she's healthy and safe, and appears to be pretty happy too. I will be sad not to be pregnant any more, I think. I've never felt better about myself, although I will be looking forward to being a 'normal' size again. But I'm definitely not ready for #2 - I'll have to think about that one.
